Don’t stop me now (Comenius Project 2011)

November 2nd, 2011

Like Freddy Mercury from Queen we also don’t want to be stopped. Therefore we had another meeting from 4th to 8th of October which  had been  prepared months and weeks ago.

After the first encounter and an evening of small talk, the Comenius team travelled to the Dachstein to see the ice- caves and to get a first glimpse of Austria. The presentations themselves were on Thursday morning (a special thanks to the Norwegian team for lending us the remote control). At one o’clock we were invited to the council hall where we heard a lot about  the history of Schärding. After that we attended  another lecture, given by a politician, the vice-president of the Green Party”  of Upper Austria,  about global warming and its local effects on the area where we live.

On Thursday and Friday evening the Austrian members of the Comenius project tried to show their guest-students some typical traditions: the food, the leather- pants, the nightlife. The weekend came and we had to say goodbye. It wasn’t really an easy farewell; friendships were formed, phone-numbers were swapped, promises were made, but I think we all were happy when we were in our beds again to catch up on some sleep.

Questions for the panel

March 26th, 2011

These are some questions from the Austrian participants; of course you can leave a comment.

  • Do you think that it is possible to use only renewable energy sources in future? Consider that our energy consumption increases continuously!
  • Which energy source do you think is the best? Consider also the financial aspect and how effective it is.
  • Would you personally support a blanket ban on nuclear energy in Europe?
  • Could you think of having solar panels on the roof of your house? Why? Why not?

The Fight Goes On

November 5th, 2010

Nowadays global warming is more important than ever. And the question, which has first priority, is: What can we do against it?

This is the part where Comenius comes in. Comenius stands for teenagers who respect the earth and nature; teenagers who want to share their solutions for global warming with other people in other countries.

A new school-year has started, new members joined, but the mission stays the same: Do something against global warming!

All dates were fixed this weekend in Sweden by Mr. Beham and the other heads of the organization.

“I’m looking forward to seeing you and your presentations.

And … oh yeah … welcome to Comenius and the hopefully not endless fight against global warming.”

Felix, Austria
